LEFT A MARK

I had gone to a residency in north of the UK in an old Steiner school called ‘field’. I went all the way to the top of the attic and I found this beautiful confined corner with this window light shinning down and knew that I had to make this piece here. ‘Left a mark’ is all about leaving a mark on the world with our transness and queersness. With the world today making more and more rules trying to abolish us I felt a need too leave a mark.

In this piece I had spent a week working on different moves destroying thy self and recreating thyself. leaning on the feminie and the masculine. this piece was 4 weeks after my top surgery. starting this piece with a plain nude trans body with white canvas leaving it with an exploded sense of chaos.

I then took the fabric with me and put it on canvases and stretched them on stretches making them into the art piece that had been left a mark on.
